Lawren, The III - Live at the 50th Prix Walo in Switzerland, Zürich

On May 2nd, 2026, the Kongresshaus Zürich hosted the 50th anniversary of the Prix Walo. It was a milestone night for Swiss entertainment—a gathering of legends and new voices alike. For me, it was the moment to bring "Ten Toes Down" to the stage, less than 24 hours after its official release.

The Opening: Garcia & Lawren

The performance didn't start with a beat. It started with a dial tone. I chose to open with a recorded voicemail—an "unheard message" [00:00:00]—to bridge the gap between my life as Garcia A. Lourenço and my work as Lawren, The III. It brought the quiet, introverted reality of my daily process into the center of the grand hall.

The Performance: Breath Speaking

When the track kicked in [00:00:20], the atmosphere in the room shifted. I’ve always described my music as "breath speaking"—an honest extension of my internal thoughts.

Performing "Ten Toes Down" live allow

ed me to physicalize the lyrics. I spoke about the "knives in the back" and the "back bleeding" as matters of fact. In that space, lines like “I see life after death ’cause I met Jesus” were declarations of where I stand. The sound of the night was the tension between the heavy trap bass and the soul harmonies that kept the melody afloat.

The Resolve: Never Going Back

The core of the set was the repetitive resolve of the hook: “We ain’t never going back” [00:01:10]. Standing there, surrounded by the history of the Swiss music scene, those words felt final. They represented my journey from Angola to Zurich and my commitment to the path I’ve chosen.

I stood ten toes down on that stage, using the Word as my weapon [00:01:33] and my voice as my witness.

The Aftermath

The 50th Prix Walo was a celebration of longevity and talent. For me, it was a confirmation. I came to the Kongresshaus to show the "thinker" behind the sound, and I left knowing that the message reached exactly who it was meant for.
